A walnut potica is a Slovenian sweet nut roll. The tradition making of potica lives on in my cottage bakery. Homemade sweet dough, hand stretched, filled with a rich walnut mixture. Every family has a version of potica, this is ours. My potica is packed full of walnuts and sweet milk, with a touch of cinnamon, no honey. This sweet nut roll is sure to please.

Back in the day, the baker would get bragging rights if your very thin dough stretched without any holes. Goals. I occasionally get an "angel" hole or two and I'm okay wiith that. If you can't read a newspaper through your dough, it's to thick.

Due to the time involved in making this family favorite, it is only available on the dates listed for a fresh loaf. Potica freezes great and you can get a frozen loaf if the fresh loaf pick-up date doesn't work for you. Frozen loaves are double wrapped, just like grandma did, and come with thawing directions.
